Exploring the Role of Capital Markets in Financing for Innovative Firms Bulls Hall, KOFIA Building, Yeoido
  • Time 14:00~16:40
In the face of a changing global environment, Korea, which is plagued by slow economic growth and youth unemployment, desperately needs the growth of innovative companies in new industries built upon the digital revolution. Growing innovative businesses in new industries, such as big data, FinTech, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IOT) and bioengineering, are expected to replace the competitive forces of traditional industries driving the economic growth and become a new engine for another leap forward.
To grow and flourish, innovative ventures need the support of underlying social and economic infrastructure. Among other things, improving access to finance for innovative firms is one of key policy issues. It is now time to explore the role of capital markets in the advent and growth of innovative firms, and look into what institutional and regulatory arrangements should be needed and improved.
The Korean Securities Association and Korea Capital Market Institute will jointly host a policy symposium that brings together experts from all relevant areas to explore the current conditions and challenges facing Korean innovative ventures in the new industries and discuss how to develop the domestic capital markets for growing innovative firms.
